Common Issues (Download/Update/Installation)

I'm unable to update, my launcher gets stuck, I can't launch the game normally, etc., after opening the launcher and trying to launch the game. How do I resolve this issue?

Please try clearing your cache and restarting the game.

How to clear your cache: Click on the wrench icon at the upper right corner of the launcher, and then select clear cache.

What should I do if I accidentally click cancel (which may cause a downloading loop, black screen, etc.) on the prompt for installing third-party components during the client's installation?

1.     Third-party components ensure that the game runs smoothly. Please install them. These components are only used to support the game's operation and will not collect or modify your data.

2.     If you've chosen to cancel the installation, you can follow the following steps to resolve any issues you may encounter:

1)     Find and open the game's installation directory.

2)     Follow the directory provided and launch the application it points to in order to install third-party components: "Client\WindowsNoEditor\Engine\Extras\Redist\en-us\UE4PrereqSetup_x64.exe".

What should I do if my launcher fails to connect to the download server when installing and updating the client?

The download failed due to network issues. You can try the following methods to fix the issue:

1.      Restart the client.

2.      If restarting the client doesn't fix the issue, you can try the method listed below to reset your network connection:

1)     Tap the Windows key on your keyboard to launch the start menu.

2)     Enter "CMD" on your keyboard, then right-click on the Command Prompt app and select "Run as administrator."

3)     Type in "netsh winsock reset" (without the apostrophes), then hit enter to execute the network reset command.

4)     Restart your computer, launch Tower of Fantasy's PC launcher, and enter the game.

What should I do if the update pack fails to install when installing and updating the client?

1.      Please try installing the update again after restarting your computer.

2.      If restarting doesn't fix the problem, please check whether your antivirus software has flagged the launcher or any related updates files as malicious and stopped them from running. To resolve this issue, you may need to add the launcher to your antivirus software's allowlist.

What should I do if my launcher fails to fetch the update configuration while updating the game?

This issue is caused by a corrupted or missing configuration file (Config.ini). It can be resolved through the following methods:

1.      Reinstall the game (Recommended).

2.      Copy a working Config.ini file from somewhere else and overwrite the existing configuration file.

Common Issues (Logging In)

I'm unable to enter the game after launch, and it loops on loading the game, or my game crashes.

1.     Reinstall the game client and try again.

2.     If reinstalling the game client doesn't fix the issue, you can try updating your graphics card and sound card drivers to the latest version. Please restart your computer before relaunching the game.

How do I solve a D3D compatibility error when launching the game?

1.      Please check if your monitor is connected to the integrated graphics socket. If so, please switch it to your dedicated graphics card's socket, and then update your graphics card drivers to the latest version before starting the game.

2.      Suppose the error still appears after switching to your dedicated graphics card and updating its drivers to the latest version. In that case, your graphics card cannot meet Tower of Fantasy's minimum requirements.

How to fix the issue that causes the game to not display on the screen properly/only the title screen to be displayed upon launching the game?

This issue is usually caused by abnormal resolution settings. Try pressing the [F11] key to switch between full screen/windowed mode and see if that solves the issue. We recommend using a non-fullscreen mode in the future for a smoother experience.

What should I do if I can't start the launcher or enter the game because I'm using a VPN or speed booster?

1.      It's recommended to avoid using VPNs and speed boosters when playing Tower of Fantasy as it may cause unpredictable effects to the game.

1)     Tap the Windows key on your keyboard to launch the start menu.

2)     Enter "CMD" on your keyboard, then right-click on the Command Prompt app and select "Run as administrator."
